Who will speak up?

Last Updated on September 30, 2010 by Dave Farquhar

In Germany they first came for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me –
and by that time no one was left to speak up.
Those of you who don’t know what this post is in response to, be glad.

Those of you who do know, remember this: Bigotry is bigotry. Take it at face value.

Unfortunately, someone that people once associated me with has shown himself to be little more than a bigot. I can only say that I’m glad very few people, if anyone, associate me with this individual (he has a name but it’s not worth printing) any longer.

I’m a Christian, and I don’t think I’ve made it any secret that I disagree with Islam. But anyone who would advocate rounding up all Muslims and deporting them, and outlawing the religion entirely is completely out of line. He needs to be deported back to whatever rock he crawled out from under.

I can only hope that when this psychopath decides it’s time to come for the Christians and he comes after me, that there’ll be somebody left to speak up.

Those of you who own a copy of my book, please turn to page xiii, go to the third full paragraph on that page, and to the third sentence, and cross out the first name that appears. I wouldn’t want anyone to ever find that page and get the idea that I ever agreed with anything that sorry excuse for an American–and for that matter, a very sorry excuse for a human being–ever said.

If you found this post informative or helpful, please share it!

Ouch! And although I don’t know of the incident to which you refer, I believe I can wholeheartedly agree with your sympathies.

If we round up and deport these people, many small businesses will be available at fire sale prices. Outlawing the religion would be neccessary to give us legal reason to take their homes and business’s.
Many would resist but a Kristallnacht would convince them to go.
There is precedent for these actions. In fact, a German Jew Doctor, unwilling participant of the original Night of Broken Glass, saved my life in ’48. He survived his German vacation in Himmler’s camps.
Pray for the psychopath in the hope that he will realize G_d loves all his children.
Pray for the muslims, that they never attack us again, on our soil, and cause 3000 deaths.

God says “Love Everyone”….he/she doesn’t use the word “except” afterwords…..

I’ve stopped reading the person you’ve referred to a month or so ago, mainly because of crap like this. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion…..but they’re also entitled freedom of religion as well. Can’t have one without the other.

    Exactly.

A couple of things. Dave, you requested your comment not be posted. Posting comments is automatic, but I deleted the post, since I assume you didn’t want it public. You were correct about the person I was referring to, yes.

Joseph, you made good points. I remember saying to Steve DeLassus that there’s not much difference between what this enemy of freedom is spewing and what Adolf Hitler spewed 50 years ago. Take an end-justifies-any-means attitude, add a mistaken belief (wiping out a particular group of people will solve a problem), and… We know what happens next.

And one other thing occurred to me today. The best thing you can do for any religion, as far as making it grow, is to persecute it. For a while you may succeed in stunting its growth, but those who survive get tougher. People who want to believe in something see and admire this. So the tide starts to turn, and the oppressed religion starts to grow again, this time, even stronger than it was before. It’s how Christianity took hold in Rome, and how Mormonism took hold in the United States. The Jewish Pharisee Gamaliel pointed this out (it’s recorded in the Book of Acts). We would do well to follow Gamaliel’s advice today.

His plan to deport all Muslims and then bomb mosques and other places of worship would have exactly the opposite effect he believes it would.

Well we all know to whom you are referring and I searched in vain for some irony in his postings.

But alas, it appears he is very serious about his views and would no doubt lead the charge..

He lives, no doubt, in some WASP heaven where things are black and white (well probably white and white) and the way to resolve an issue is to remove it entirely and then not have to think about it.

However, he is entitled to his opinions and we are entitled to dis-agreee.

Yep, he certainly has the right to say whatever he wants. It’s his blatant disregard for anyone else’s rights–particularly the rights of those who disagree with him–that greatly troubles me.

I think you’re spot on, Fred. Politics and religion are the two most volatile subjects one can visit to cause attention, anger, and a lot of wasted time. I can’t see how libertarian ideals – with which I agree to a large degree – can be reconciled with a call to expelling a group of people you’ve mistakenly stereotyped, and even worse, genocide (or something close to it). Those things sound a wee bit unconstitutional, but why let a little thing like the law of the land (what’s left of it) stop you? I guess it makes for lots of page hits, and maybe that’s what counts for some folks.

I\’m a bit late here, but I know the incident whereof you speak, and I know of the individual whereof you speak.

I\’ve not stopped reading the writer in question. Not because I agree with some of this person\’s rather antiquated and painfully idiotic notions – nope – I follow the old maxim \"Hold your friends close – and your enemies closer.\"

Best way to keep an eye on what the bigotted idiots are up to – keep an eye on \’em. Too bad we couldn\’t all send them off to some small sort of resort somewhere and use them for vaccine testing – nah, that\’d give value to their otherwise useless, worthless, weak, ineffective, wasted lives.

(No, I hadn\’t run out of adjectives – I just got sick of thinking of \"him\"). 😉
