A Palm Pre was my first smartphone. I wish the line could have continued but in hindsight it’s clear it was never going to.

I recall Palm bought BeOS and was creating a new OS called Cobalt based on BeOS and wanted to use it for its phones, similar to iOS based on Nextstep

could the current owner of BeOS open source it, as there was some wish for OS/2 to go open source but MS owns much of the IP. was Amiga OS ever open sourced?

(The HP Touchpad was not.) It was just too little too late to save the company. If Palm had had it ready even a year earlier it might have become the primary alternative to iOS instead of Android.
