That drove a lot of repeat business.

Egghead Software was even more focused on that, as the name implies, though they did eventually expand into selling computer peripherals. (So far as I know they never sold complete computers; most of their stores were too small to hold a significant hardware inventory.) Once selling software in boxes became passe they died quickly.
