Trolling ’round the ‘net

I’m not feeling nauseous enough so I’ll go troll some news sites and see what I find.
Foxnews: “I think the value of life has been really reduced when a person who strangles their child gets less time than you would for killing a pet.” This person is surprised that there are people who value the lives of our pets more than the lives of our children? The spoils of our past 30 years are coming home to roost. I hope everyone enjoys them, because it’s only going to get worse.

Remember that homo sapien plot to take over the world? No need to worry about it. Even if they do manage to take over the world, they’ll squander it because all they want to do is kill each other.

London Telegraph: Israel arrests and holds 100 Palestinians. Be glad that’s all they’re doing. History will look back at today’s Palestinians as the 21st century’s answer to the Nazis. (Just another case of the homo sapiens killing each other for fun and profit.)

Bah. That’s enough for people to talk about. I’m going to bed.

If you found this post informative or helpful, please share it!

Nazi’s? Hum, that may be a bit much, well actually, probably not. I mean all the poor Palestinians (along with the rest of the Arab world) want is the total annihilation of Israel.

To torture an animal, one should go to jail.

To kill a child, you should be executed.

It seems surreal. Society values the life of an animal more than a human. Well maybe not all the time, but it seems like most of the time.
Is it that punishment is getting weaker for human abuse or stiffer for animal abuse? I tire of hearing the top news story of the day regarding the death or abuse of a dumb insignificant animal when many, many people die each day without mention at all.
My college history professor once told of a story how during the Vietnam war, a group of students were trying to get attention against the war. One idea that did turn up a large attendance was to have a picture of a puppy with a notice that on a certain day that they would pour napalm on the animal. It’s weird what people will finally make a stand.
Finally people were upset about the 9-11 tragedy and give support. Ironically, that same number of people who died matches the number of aborted babies each day in America. Who stands up for them?
If you make a stand, make it worthwhile.

Dave, you had to know that this would solicit some impassioned comments. Especially from me.

As someone who works in animal welfare, I must say I am reading all of this with some bias. I totally agree that the loss of a child’s life is the highest of tragedies. To see such potential snuffed out should cause every single one of us outrage. But to compare the loss of a child’s life and the punishment– or lack thereof– to that of animal abuse is unfair. You cannot compare them. It’s as if you are comparing apples and oranges.

I see untold horror of anger and maliciousness unleashed on defenseless animals (Who are neither dumb nor insignificant, but sad pawns in this game called life.)every single day. To quote a great friend of mine, “I do care very much about animals, but that does not mean I care any less about people who are suffering. Suffering has no limitations. When something hurts, it hurts. My concern for animals leads me to expand my concern for people.”

I am in this field to fix other people’s mistakes. And if I can make a small difference in this world, then my life has validation. If I can teach someone kindness towards the pet they kick when it’s ‘pottied’ on the carpet, then maybe they won’t kick their child when it tracks mud across a freshly washed floor. Abuse of any kind continues on to bigger and more tragic results.
