However, I am glad to have Boston get the "curse of the Babe" monkey off their backs. If there is any group of fans who have suffered more from playoff futility than Houston fans it’s Boston fans.

I figured that both teams had great offenses, but the Cardinals had better defense, as was demonstrated in the series. The Cardinals had solid pitching, but were without perhaps their best starter during the year. Most important, short series tend to favor teams with 2-3 top-notch starters more than teams with five better than average starting pitchers.

That point perhaps hinted at the likelihood of a Sox victory, but I’m still surprised at a sweep. Good thing I’m not a gambler, as I certainly wouldn’t have bet on one.
