I couldn’t write anything that made any sense. Mostly I sat and stared. I told myself when the Royals made the Wild Card, I’d be happy with whatever happened, because it was

Maybe there’s a method to the Royals’ madness https://dfarq.homeip.net/maybe-theres-a-method-to-the-royals-madness/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=maybe-theres-a-method-to-the-royals-madness Fri, 16 Dec 2005 18:41:12 +0000 https://dfarq.homeip.net/?p=1535 The Royals signed four free agents. All four of them potentially have something to offer, and one of them is a virtual guarantee to contribute something.

The four? First baseman Doug Mientkiewicz, second baseman Mark Grudzielanek, starting pitcher Scott Elarton, and catcher Paul Bako.

Can the Royals be saved? https://dfarq.homeip.net/can-the-royals-be-saved/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=can-the-royals-be-saved https://dfarq.homeip.net/can-the-royals-be-saved/#comments Wed, 21 Sep 2005 01:01:07 +0000 https://dfarq.homeip.net/?p=1500 So the Royals managed yesterday to avoid losing their 100th game this season. They have to win 14 games in a row to avoid their third 100-loss season in four years. While a 14-game winning streak to stave off that 100th loss isn't impossible, it's unlikely. This is a team that dropped 19 straight last month, after all.

Keep in mind that the cross-state Cardinals, the winningest team in baseball, haven't won their 99th game yet.

So what do you do with a team that's had a worse run than the 1962-1966 Mets, who at least had the excuse of being an expansion team?

Is there hope in Kansas City for baseball? https://dfarq.homeip.net/is-there-hope-in-kansas-city-for-baseball/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=is-there-hope-in-kansas-city-for-baseball https://dfarq.homeip.net/is-there-hope-in-kansas-city-for-baseball/#comments Tue, 07 Sep 2004 22:45:19 +0000 https://dfarq.homeip.net/?p=1296 I spent some time in Kansas City this weekend. If I had any doubts this season, where the Royals went from favorites to win the division to worst team in the league in a matter of about a week, had eroded fan support, that doubt is gone now.

So now what?
