But I still would rather write anything in plain text, then add TeX (actually these days Plain TeX) markup to it, than fight my way through word processing apps that try to be helpful, and often aren’t. Even OpenOffice has cloned Word so much that its ordered lists are about as painful as anything I’ve used (and lately I’ve been needing those a lot, and wishing I could just typeset in a sane environment).
