Probably similar to the reasons that I can remember that the natural base e is 2.718… and a .38 special is really .357 in diameter. Or, “bdf” on HP-UX, “df-k” on Sun and just “df” on Linux to get a meaningful display of filesystem useage.

BUT, the perfume that my wife asked me to buy for her was what…? I remember that I should buy her some, but what was it again? And the name of the teacher that I need to call that my son has in 3rd period; hmmmm … I’m sure I’ll remember it RSN.
