I’m thankful for too many things to list, but mostly I’m thankful for the wisdom to know that my blessings are gifts that I don’t especially deserve, that I live in a state of grace. It’s not that I don’t work hard and try to do my best, but what I might think I’ve “earned” is really only using the talents and opportunities I was given. I might have worked for my education and training but I did’t “earn” the abilty to acquire them. This gives me I think a healthy humility and keeps things in perspective. Great gifts imply great responsibilites. It reminds me that the persons I admired most when I was in the military were those who realized that rising in rank was not about perks and pay raises, but an increased ability to serve. I thank God for many gifts and pray for the insight to use them wisely. Happy Thanksgiving all.
