But as you’ve set out his role and legacy is so much more complicated than that, so history is left with this ambiguous character who was sometimes a villain, sometimes a saviour, but just generally out of place leading a computer company in the 80s and 90s. Bagnall’s book suggests the CDTV was the product most closely associated with Gould personally, and when that failed he seems to have lost interest in Commodore as a long-term proposition.
