Funny enough, I was recently researching Sculley for a blog post, and I did see a few reports from this time period suggesting Sculley did approach IBM about a possible merger with Apple–and presumably Sculley with Sculley then becoming CEO of the combined company.

These were just rumors, of course, and it’s hard to imagine that deal working. But it’s a fun “what-if” scenario.
