Good points all around.

But….

Does a rose by any other name…. So you think God cares if you got His name wrong or right ( Mine’s not that petty ( or my image of Him at any rate, If we were supposed to be perfect we would be )).

More people have been killed in the name of God ( Pick one ) than for any other reason ( As far as I can tell, the Vatican won’t release the figures, or anyone else for that matter ).

And most people that profess to be "Christian" are total hypocrites ( present company excepted ) They act all nice and cuddly in church and then go out and gossip about their neighbors, stab each other in the back…. The list goes on FOREVER.

Oh, I’ve heard the the phrase "Kill them all and let God sort them out" originated in the crusades when the "Christians-Catholics" were about to attack a city. The problem was that the city contained heathens and "believers". Well when you attack a city you probably don’t have time to ask the religious preference of the person you are about to skewer with that big nasty sword. So kill them all and the "Christians-Catholics" go to heaven ( Much better than breathing, right? ) and the heathens go to hell (where they deserve to be, right? Wow I know Christ must have said that somewhere – Send me the page please so I’ll feel better about the church ( does "don’t judge lest thou be judged" ring a bell, or is that only if they aren’t a sinner? ).

Stop arguing and try to live your beliefs. Treat others as….. ( If you don’t know this one we need to have a long talk ). Most of this stuff is common sense to me. So either most people are brain damaged or I’m really lucky to know right from wrong ( Yes I do do things that I know are wrong – perfection still eludes me 🙂 ).

God is a good thing, as is faith ( don’t forget hope and charity ). People that try to get between you and your belief are as far as I can tell evil – or just stupid ( Really need to make that one a capital crime ).

Oh I almost forgot my favorite Prayer "Jesus, please protect me from your followers". The sinners are having to much fun to bother with me.

I could go on but if the point eludes you after this long it wont matter anyway.

Good luck to all and keep your head down or you may be burned as a witch ( please substitute any word you feels appropriate ). After all what do you think the nice God fearing people of Salem would do to a timetraveler with a flashlight? Or what would we do now to someone that could, lets say, levitate. Or for that matter any thing that we can’t do. No of course we would not burn them, we’d lock them in a cell and study them. Can you say vivisection? I thought you could ( A la Mr. Rogers. Please imagine me saying it in that sing-song voice he used ).

And really I do wish you all the best, I do try to do the right thing, help others, protect the Innocent ( or at least the girl that was getting pushed around on the street ). If EVERYONE just tried a little, just a little……

"Atheist: There is no god
Agnostic: I don’t know the nature of God, and I don’t think you do either." Larry Niven, I believe ( Allways give credit to your sources, It’s called honesty ).

And hey, if you have nothing better do do that argue about religion. BLOODY go out and help some one.

Lewis said something about religion that is both obvious and profound, meaning in practice that it’s almost universally ignored. To paraphrase, "The most important thing about any religion is simply whether it’s TRUE or not." (Emphasis mine.) He was pointing out that most people simply practice, whether poorly or well, whichever religion their family or most of their neighbors practice. He was pointing out that most people of every religion don’t take it as seriously in their everyday practice as they do theoretically; and in fact most people don’t even bother to delve more deeply than they have to into whatever religion they profess.

It’s a sad fact that Christianity has degraded from a living faith that let 120 disciples begin turning the world upside down, to a faded, compromised, bastardized pastiche of Biblical ideas and pagan philosophy/practices. And those few souls who do want to go deeper into their faith are still inevitably painted with the same brush as the half-hearted majority, who only want enough "religion" to keep them from going to a hell they only half believe in.

Religion is not about ethnicity. Religion is not about whatever faith your family professed. Religion is not about external clothing and hairstyles and bumper stickers and diets and specialized vocabularies. Religion is not about "fitting in." Religion is about truth, or else it’s worthless. And of course, that means that for ANY religion to have any meaning, some genuine truth must actually exist. And if some genuine truth actually exists, then some religions will be "closer" to it and others will be "farther" from it. By definition, two religions that say opposite things about the nature of the universe and life as we know it, can’t both be right.

Welcome to earth.

Good Day!
