Such a wild blend of promise and missteps. The Adam really could have changed the landscape—especially with CP/M compatibility, off-the-shelf parts, and that console-to-computer upgrade model. But the printer-as-power-supply move alone sealed its doom. Loved the Donkey Kong ? NES ? Atari fallout detail too. Whole industry path got reshaped off one executive tantrum. ???

I wish Tandy Radio Shack in 1985 came out with a computer that used the Motorola 68000 or even the original ARM used in Acorn Archimedes, similar to the Atari ST or Commodore Amiga, as the successor to the Color Computer, much like the Apple 2GS was to Apple 2e/c and instead of the x86 Tandy 1000. maybe with Microware OS-9 and GEM or even QNX, which was ported to 68k
but using mostly off the shelf parts to cut costs down, and perhaps even allow cloning. I’m thinking something like a motorola 68000 or ARM1 CPU with Apple 2gs Ensoniq 5503 DOC sound with Zilog z80 to offload, and Texas Instruments TMS34010, for graphics, 1mb like the Atari ST. maybe nubus for slots or something more advance than ISA. 1 universal serial i/o port that is similar to USB and does everything, the Apple 2gs had ADB which is proto-USB.

imagine an 80s computer with QNX microkernel in an Atari ST Amiga 500 like price point.
