That was a very real problem, even when the tapes were new. And sentimental value is something I didn’t cover but probably should have, I have lots of things that have low monetary value but high sentimental value. Definitely test your deck with a tape with minimal sentimental value first. And consider converting those tapes with sentimental value to digital format for casual listening. Maybe there’s another blog post here…. Thanks for that idea.

I am a bit concerned about playing them due to the fear of the tape being eaten by my only cassette tape deck. Perhaps I need to take it apart, service it and test it out.
