Coppermines are FCPGA. “Flip chip” means the CPU core is on the top of the chip, rather than on the bottom like pre-Coppermine Intel CPUs. They moved the core to the top of the chip to improve cooling, but packaging chips that way was more complicated, which was why they didn’t always do it in the first place.

I have an emachines 533 at home and would love to know how I find out if it’s got the old core or the coppermine but I can’t get a tip anywhere. The socket on the board says PGA370 and it’s an AMI 586 mobo. Also, I was wondering, what is flip chip PGA?
